WISEflow Device Monitor
The WISEflow Device Monitor will be released out of Beta and available to all customers from 27 October 2023. Please note there is a charge for this module.
WISEflow Device Monitor
The Device Monitor is a software application, made by UNIwise, and is part of our suite of invigilation tools aimed to support users when invigilating and managing assessments. This functionality provides greater support in ensuring the integrity of assessments on flows without the use of the lockdown browser.
The desire to utilise external applications, such as Excel, as part of an exam is becoming more frequent as institutions push to make their assessments as authentic as possible. Delivering flows within the lockdown browser provides security but limits the potential for expanding the methods used for participants to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding, for example, by utilising external applications. The Device Monitor offers enormous potential for allowing external applications to be used as part of the assessment, whilst retaining the integrity of the exam.
The move from Beta to the live version will include the Device Monitor being available on flow types where the lockdown browser is disabled, namely:
- FLOWassign
- FLOWhandin
- FLOWlock without the lockdown browser
- FLOWmulti without the lockdown browser
When enabled, the Device Monitor will capture screenshots of the participant's device screen at random intervals during the participation period of the flow. These screenshots will be available to managers and invigilators for review via the participation monitor. Also available is a live status of the Device Monitor for each participant, indicating whether it is still active, or not. Once the participation period has ended, any gaps when the Device Monitor was deactivated can be viewed.
Participants must first install the software on their device prior to the start of the assessment. The Device Monitor must be started before the flow starts and participants can only see the assignment once the Device Monitor has been started. The monitor then automatically stops taking images once the paper has been submitted.
