NEW AI Feedback
The WISEflow October release on 23 October 2026 brings a new add-on module: AI-assisted feedback. After an assessor has finalised a grade, they can ask for a draft of written feedback. The draft is based on the participant's submission and the marking guidance for the flow.
Why we built it
For most assessors, writing feedback takes longer than deciding the grade. When there's a lot to mark, feedback is often the first thing to be cut, and participants can end up with a grade but little explanation of how it was reached. Some assessors have started pasting work into general-purpose AI tools to help. That takes participant work outside the institution's control.
AI-assisted feedback brings that help into WISEflow. The assessor no longer starts from a blank page. Instead they review and edit a draft that explains the grade they've already given, using the marking guidance your institution has set.
What the module provides
- Draft feedback on request. In the marking tool, the assessor can ask for draft feedback on a submission. The draft is based on the flow's marking guidance and the participant's work.
- Only after grading. AI assistance becomes available once the assessor has finalised the grade. The grading decision stays entirely with the assessor.
- It never gives a grade. The assistant can explain the reasons for the grade the assessor gave. It will never provide, suggest or hint at a grade, even if asked directly.
- The assessor stays in control. Every draft is a suggestion. The assessor reviews and edits it before anything reaches the participant, and they remain the author of the final feedback.
- Participants are told. Participants see a clear notice that AI assistance was available to the assessor.
- Switched on per flow. The assistant is turned on flow by flow, and only where marking guidance has been added.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't grade, suggest grades or predict scores. It doesn't work before or during grading, and it can't be used without marking guidance on the flow. It never releases feedback to participants without the assessor reviewing it, and participants don't interact with the AI at any point.
Your data
AI-assisted feedback works only within the assessment workflow it's used in. Customer data is not given to model vendors to train their AI. The module is optional and switched off by default, and each institution decides whether to use it under its own policy.
Before you start
Marking guidance is required. If your flows don't have it yet, we recommend adding it before you switch the module on. Clear, well-structured guidance leads to better drafts.
How to get it
AI-assisted feedback is a paid add-on module. To find out more about pricing or getting started, please contact your Customer Success Manager or the Growth Team.
