Enhancements in Date Management
Managing flow dates and participant-level adjustments has always been central to WISEflow but increasing features and integrations have made this process more complex. As a result, configuring and managing flow timing has become less efficient and lacks clear oversight.
A dedicated theme and the recent updates to the date management system bring significant benefits to managers, streamlining the process of defining, overseeing, and adjusting deadlines throughout the lifecycle of a flow. The introduction of a new dedicated subpage for managing deadlines offers a centralized and comprehensive overview, allowing managers to handle all timing aspects on the same page.
Key Benefits
Centralised Management
All timing functions for flows (excluding FLOWoral and FLOWattend) will be consolidated into a central subpage, providing an at-a-glance overview of flow scheduling. Previously, these settings were dispersed across the manager page, complicating navigation. Consolidated features include:
Currently under the Advanced tab:
- Permission to submit late (FLOWassign & FLOWhandin)
- No withdrawal of submission
- Individual marking period at submission
- Early access for assessors
Currently under Participation settings:
- Timeboxing
- Individual Timeboxing adjustments per participant
These features will be moved to the new date managing page and removed from the Advanced tab and participation settings with the December release 2025.
Bulk Editing
Managers can now update individual deadlines for multiple participants simultaneously, improving consistency and operational efficiency. In addition,
Enhanced Functionality
The new technical structure supports more functionality, e.g.:
- Relative time: add relative time to a deadline for all participants (with or without dispensation)
- Automatic retention of flow duration: if the start date for the participation or marking period is modified and overlaps with the end date—such that the new start date occurs after the original end date—WISEflow will automatically preserve the original duration.
- Dispensation note: Provide the reason for any adjustment in participation or marking duration for individual participants. (only seen by managers)
Enhanced Granular Control
Additional saving steps offer more precise oversight when modifying times within a flow. This structure also governs how and when notifications of time adjustments are sent to participants, particularly those actively working within the lockdown browser.
Potential New Features
While these developments represent significant progress, several enhancements remain under consideration:
- Participant-Specific Date Changes: Managers can view which participants have modified dates and the time of each change.
- Additional Manager Privileges: Ability to assign another manager to manage flow timing.
These enhancements mark a substantial step towards empowering managers with better control and efficiency in managing flow timings, with further improvements on the horizon.
