Conversion of Flows from Legacy to New Marking Tool
With the March release on 13 March 2026, the Legacy Marking Tool will be disabled and marking with the old tool will no longer be possible. From this point onward, the New Marking Journey, consisting of the New Marking Tool and the new flow page for assessors will be the only tool used for marking in WISEflow.
As part of this change, all flows that have been assessed using the Legacy Marking Tool will be converted to the New Marking Tool. Any input previously provided by assessors in the Legacy Marking Tool will be transferred and made available in the New Marking Tool.
Data Transfer Timeline
9 February 2026 to 12 March 2026
- Data transfer will start with archived flows that have a marking end date before 1 January 2025, beginning with the oldest flows. This process will not impact any active flows.
13 March 2026 (March Production Release)
- All remaining flows will be converted when the March release is deployed to Production, with the maintenance window starting at 21:00 CET.
- From 14 March 2026, all flows will use the New Marking Journey.
From 14 March 2026, following the March release, all markers and reviewers will assess flows using the New Marking Tool and the new flow page for assessors, together referred to as the New Marking Journey. The legacy marking tool, legacy flow page and legacy marking overview will no longer be available for use. Participants will receive and view their feedback in the new participant feedback view.
What will happen with my marking data?
Rubrics
- Rubric data is not affected: The rubric data remains identitical as it is used in both the Legacy and New Marking Tool.
Final Grades and Alternative Grades
- Grade data is not affected: Grade data is identical in both the Legacy and New Marking Tool.
Submission Feedback (Legacy: Comments on the submission)
- Submission feedback will be converted: All text will be preserved. Original text formatting may not be fully retained, so elements such as bullet points, colours and similar styling cannot be guaranteed.
Common Feedback (Legacy: General comment on the entire flow)
- Common feedback will be converted: All text will be preserved. Original text formatting may not be fully retained, so elements such as bullet points, colours and similar styling cannot be guaranteed.
Annotations and FLOWmulti scores
- FLOWassign / FLOWlock annotations will be converted: All text will be preserved. Original text formatting may not be fully retained, so elements such as bullet points, colours and similar styling cannot be guaranteed.
- FLOWmulti item annotations will be converted: Annotations made on items will be converted to an annotation placed at the top of the annotation view.
For flows that do not have a PDF version of the item, an empty placeholder PDF will be attached so that the annotation can be preserved and displayed.
Points / Scores
- FLOWmulti scores will be transferred exactly as they are recorded in the Legacy Marking Tool and will be displayed in the New Marking Tool in the same way. However, the New Marking Tool applies stricter validation rules. If a transferred score is adjusted, it must fall within the new minimum and maximum values defined for that specific question.
- FLOWassign / FLOWlock points will be transferred exactly as they are recorded in the Legacy Marking Tool and will be displayed in the New Marking Tool in the annotation they were added. Please note though that the New Marking Tool no longer includes the option to add free points for FLOWassign and FLOWlock flows. Instead, rubrics can be used to ensure a more standardised feedback process.
