Changes to WISEflow Terminology March 2022
In March 2022 we shall be launching some changes to the terminology in WISEflow. Our aim is always to make WISEflow as easy and intuitive to use as possible and we believe these changes will help us achieve our goal.
Once these changes are made, we aim to update all our articles within our Service Centre with the new terminology as soon as possible. However, this may take a little time so please bear with us.
Listed below are the terms that will be changed in WISEflow.

| Assessment | Provisional grade | The interim grading outcome (before being finalised via marker agreement or moderator approval) |
| Assessment (verb) (also assessing and assess) | Marking | The act of performing marking activity |
| Assessment from distribution | Scaled grade | The grading outcome automatically generated by the grade scaler |
| Assessment guidelines | Marking guidance | Files or links provided to markers by either the manager or author |
| Assessment period | Marking period | The period during which the marking takes place |
| Assessment type | Grading scale | The measurement scale used on the flow |

| Hand-in (verb) | Submit | The act of submitting work |
| Hand-in blank (noun) | Blank submission | A submission made which does not include any work |

| Individually timed flow duration | Timeboxed participation | A flow where the initiation of an individual flow duration and deadline is made possible |
| Invigilator | Invigilation | The header for each role will become the action |

| Local copy | Offline backup | A backup copy of the participant's work offered in the event of connectivity issues |
| Log | Activity log | The system record of user activity on a flow |
| Manager | Managing | The header for each role will become the action |
| Mark converter | Grade scaler | The tool used for automatically transferring raw marks to fit a final grading scale |
| Mark overview | Grade overview | The page where markers conduct a final review and submit their grading decisions |
| Marking scales | Grading scale | The measurement scale used on the flow |
| Offline assessment | Offline marking | Marking activity that takes place outside of WISEflow |

| Progression overview | Marking overview | The tool used by managers to monitor marking progress in either FLOWmulti or FLOWseries. |

| Reviewer | Reviewing | The header for each role will become the action |
| Rubric based assessment | Rubric-based marking | A specific workflow that supports markers being assigned to individual rubrics |
| Scoring matrix | Matrix | The tool used to distribute and manage marking allocations when using item-based marking |
| Section | Item | The container into which individual questions are built and arranged |
| Section based assessment | Item-based marking | A specific workflow that supports markers being assigned to specific questions in the test |
| State | Status | The position of a flow in the workflow at a given point in time |
| Summarise flow | Preview settings | The feature used by managers to check that a flow is configured correctly prior to activation |
