Invigilation Features

Facial comparison is a way of identifying key features on a person's face and using it as a way to identify and differentiate between people. You can use facial comparison as a way to identify if the participants sitting through an exam are really who they say they are, by using a reference image of the participant to cross-examine faces to prove, the participant has been the same person for every exam.

Furthermore, besides the initial authentication via facial comparison, you will be able to monitor the participant through snapshots taken by the webcam that will analyse the person’s identity throughout the exam. The actual snapshot and matching will be hidden from the participant but will result in a match score showing in the participation monitor. Facial comparison can be enabled for FLOWlock and FLOWmulti exams in the participation settings.

Participant View

On the flow page for participants, it will be noted that they will need a webcam for the exam.

All images ever taken by the participant for facial comparison will be available to managers and invigilators on the same flow. This way the invigilators can access the images in case of a poor match or other, to make sure the participant is the real participant.

Furthermore, the participation monitor will show all pictures taken during the exam in a timeline. All data and pictures are saved in the participation monitor and it is possible to go through all the participants on the flow after the participation time has ended if you, for example, wish to follow up on those participants with a low general match score.

Participation Monitor Functionalities

The participation monitor displays four columns when facial comparison is enabled in addition to the column indicating the count for unique IP addresses:

1. Facial comparison match:
   

   A participant has entered a flow with facial comparison for the first time.	A participant has skipped facial comparison administratively by the use of the invigilator password.	The percentage shows how well the face on a participant's latest image matches their reference image (first image ever taken).

   These buttons can be clicked to receive more information and, in case of a low percentage, open up the pictures that were used in the match, by clicking the button with the percentage. The person monitoring can see why there might have been a bad match between the two pictures. Since only the face is used, different clothing or hairstyles will not affect the percentage given.
   If the person monitoring the flow, is uncertain whether there might be signs of impersonating or alike, they can also see previous matches made, to see if major changes have happened since last time they used facial comparison. This dropdown will give you access to see every match since the very first reference ever made.
   

   

   Mr. Wiseflow and his little helper shown in this guide were used to replace the real people used for the facial comparison in the pictures. Mr. Wiseflow does not get recognised by the facial comparison software as having a face.

2. Average comparison percentage: The system automatically calculates an average comparison percentage, based on all images that were captured in the course of this exam.
3. Lowest comparison percentage: This will display the lowest comparison percentage captured by the system.
4. Total image count: This will display the count of all images taken throughout the flow.
5. Set the time for when a participant should be shown as inactive (1) or create custom flags (2) based on one or several conditions. When facial comparison is enabled, the following conditions can be set in addition to the ones that are generally available on a flow (see Settings in the Participation Monitor above for more information): Facial comparison match, Average comparison percentage and Lowest comparison percentage. It is possible to filter the overview of the participation monitor to only show participants with flags based on the chosen conditions.
   The setup will be remembered on the flow until removed. Clicking the X will remove all flags.

Voice detection is a way of capturing audio from a participant while they are taking part in a lockdown exam. The microphone will capture any sounds and in the participation monitor, managers and invigilators will be able to review the recorded audio or read through transcribed text. Voice detection can be enabled for FLOWlock and FLOWmulti exams in the participation settings.

On the flow page for participants, it will be noted that they will need a microphone for the exam.

The participation monitor displays a column to show the sentences that have been registered when voice detection is enabled in addition to the column indicating the count for unique IP addresses:

1. Sentences registered:
   The buttons can be clicked to review the captured audio and transcribed text. All audio captured during the exam will be shown in a timeline and it will be possible to play audio from a particular timestamp. Clicking on the blue bar under Sentences registered will display the transcribed text. Audio captured during the verification sequence at the beginning of the lockdown exam will be indicated: .
   

   

2. Set the time for when a participant should be shown as inactive (1) or create custom flags (2) based on one or several conditions. When voice detection is enabled, it is possible to set the condition Sentence registered in addition to the ones that are generally available on a flow (see Settings in the Participation Monitor above for more information). It is possible to filter the overview of the participation monitor to only show participants with flags based on the chosen conditions.
