Integration Logic

The recommended way to integrate with WISEflow is to use the WISEflow API

With an integration client, data will be continuously synchronised with the source throughout the different flow phases. A flow can have multiple SIS sources attached, the first source connected will always be the master source.

What, how, and when data is synchronised is described in the below table. Integration clients are created using institution-specific data and mapping, so all data may not be synchronised with your current client.

Data Logic

Title,
Subtitle,
Flow code,
Type,
Permission to submit late,
Timebox

  • These values will be synchronised with the master source throughout all the flow phases
  • If a value is changed manually in WISEflow the synchronisation will stop
  • If the value is changed back to the source value, the synchronisation will start again
  • Permission to submit late and timebox will only be synchronised if supported on the flow
Dates
  • Dates must be part of the master source during the first synchronisation and have a valid value on the first synchronisation
  • Dates are always synchronised when the flow has not been activated
  • When the flow has been activated, dates will be synchronised until the end of the marking period
  • If a flow has multiple sources, the master source will be used to set the dates
  • If no dates are coming from the master source during the first synchronisation, dates will not be synchronised
  • If the source does not have any dates or is missing some dates, the default dates will be used. The default dates are:
    • Participation start date: The day after flow creation at 9:00
    • Participation end date: Five hours after the participation start date
    • Marking start date: Two days after the participation end date at 12:00
    • Marking end date: Four weeks after the marking start date
  • During the participation phase: If the source does not have a start date for participation but has a participation end date that is not complying with the default dates, a new end date will be set
Grading scale
  • If the source data does not have a grade, the standard grading scale from the licence will be used
  • The grading scale will only be synchronised during the first synchronisation
ECTS,
Test type
  • Synchronised until changed manually in WISEflow
Rooms
  • Rooms will be synchronised with the source until the end of the participation period
  • If supported, rooms will also be created and booked in WISEflow
Participant specific settings
  • Grade: If participant groups are set up as a group submission, grades are SBA or the grade has been submitted, individual grades are not synchronised
  • ECTS: Synchronised until changed manually
  • Participation end date
    • The participation end date is synchronised until the end of the participation period.
    • On FLOWoral, the participation end date is not synchronised.
  • Marking end date
    • Same as the participation end date
  • Timebox
    • Same as the participation end date
