Administrator Features in Originality

As an admin in Originality, you can control the license settings, manage users, documents, and see license statistics.

In this article:

Admin section – License

Administrator features or license-level settings are accessed from the Originality interface by users with the administrator role. Admins can control how Originality behaves across the entire license and view the current performance metrics.

All Documents

In the license settings, Originality administrators can access all documents on the license. The All Documents page shows the 500 most recent documents, but other features like filtering by ID, context, date range, status, or score, allows to query more specific documents or find the exact document by its iD.

In the document overview, administrators can:

  • Refresh the document status. If the document has failed, an admin can re-queue it for processing.
  • Update the indexing status. If a document should be added to/removed from the database.
  • Generate a share link. The link will share access to the specific document's similarity report with others who have access to Originality.
  • Regenerate report. Regenerating the report will overwrite the existing similarity report.
  • Delete the document.
  • Download the document.

User Management

In this section, administrators can manage Originality users on your license and see what access each user has. The available actions are:

  • Adding new users to the license
  • Removing current users from the license
  • Updating user information (first name, last name, email), user role, and status (active or deactivated)
  • Impersonating license users. Admins can log in as any other user on the license. This feature is useful for the following reasons:
    • Faster troubleshooting – see exactly what the user sees, instead of relying on a written description.
    • Permission checks – confirm that a user's roles, groups, or access are set up correctly.
    • Smoother onboarding – walk through the interface as a new user would experience it.
    • Less back-and-forth – skip the round of screenshots and follow-up questions when diagnosing an issue.

Note! All impersonation sessions are logged in the Originality backend for security and auditing purposes. If you suspect misconduct on your license, please reach out to our Support team.

Statistics

The Statistics page provides insights into documents submitted under your license. All statistics are based on the submission date to Originality. On this page, admins can:

  • See the number of documents currently in progress
  • See the number of documents completed
  • See the number of documents failed
  • See the average processing time
  • Use a date picker to see metrics for different date ranges – see metrics from the last 7, 30, 365 days, or from a custom date range

Settings

On the License Settings page, you can view information about your license and how it is currently configured. The following sections are available:

  • About. Shows your license name, license ID, creation date, expiration date, and the number of users in each role.
  • Documents. Shows the minimum sentence length used for analysis, whether tables and figures are included in the analysis, and the retention periods for documents, reports, and the index. It also shows the maximum file size allowed for submissions.
  • Sharing. Shows whether your license is part of a sharing group with other institutions.
  • Login. Lets you configure the login providers available to your users (Magic Link, Microsoft Entra, and WAYF). Multiple providers can be active at the same time, and users choose which one to use when logging in. This section also shows whether automatic user provisioning is enabled, and the default role assigned on first login (none, assessor, or admin).
  • API. Lets you generate an API client (client ID and client secret) and manage the API keys on your license.
